Today’s Reflection: First Sunday of Advent – Advent is a quiet contemplative time of waiting for the Light that will come and shine on us Christmas Day, rescuing us from the great darkness and hopelessness we experience in our daily lives. Advent then is a very special season of hope that links the coming of the promised Messiah in Jesus with the coming of Christ into our own hearts after a period of preparation, and with the coming of Christ again at the end of time. — Brother Victoire-Antoine D’Avila-Latourrette, A Monastic Year.

Today’s Reflection: Lord, help me to seek You in all things and at all times. When darkness closes in, help me to discover the light You have revealed. Then help me to bring that light to a world in great need. Jesus, I trust in You. — My Catholic Life.

Today’s Reflection: Jesus, my light, may I catch fire through your light within me. May I give it to others, for this light is the most precious gift that I have to give. Teach me what this means in my own particular circumstances, so that your gospel may live in me and bear fruit.— from Focus Your Day.

Today’s Reflection: Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi (Prayer for Peace)
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
