Today’s Reflection: Trust In God

Let nothing disturb you,

nothing frighten you,

all things are passing.

God never changes.

Patience always conquers.

Whoever has God lacks nothing,

For God alone suffices. – St. Teresa of Avila

Today’s Reflection: Speak Gently In My Silence

Dear Lord,

Speak gently in my silence.

When the loud outer noises of my

surroundings and the loud inner noises of my

fears keep pulling me away from you, help me

to trust that you are still there even when I am

unable to hear you. Give me ears to listen to

your small, soft voice saying: “Come to me,

you who are overburdened, and I will give you rest ….. for I am gentle and humble of heart.”

Let that loving voice be my guide.

Amen. – Henri Nouwen

Today’s Reflection: Lord, as I face these trying times, I find my faith often shaken. It seems that when difficulties arise and  I should stand most firm in my faith that I am instead most lost and confused about my beliefs. Forgive me for this. Strengthen me during my times of hesitation. Give me the trust and hope that all will unfold according to your plan. – The Passionists of Holy Cross province.

Today’s Reflection:  Prayer

Lord,
I ask:
“What if it doesn’t work?”
You reply:
Trust the process.”

I shake my head and ask:
“What if it fails?”
You reply:
Believe it’s all leading somewhere.”

Back and forth we go,
Me asking my worried questions,
You issuing your patient replies
until finally I ask:
“What if I am afraid?”
You reply:
Know I am right here.”

Amen.—Gretchen Crowder, Campus Minister at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas

Today’s Reflection: Lord,
In the deepest recesses of my heart,
I know Your voice.
Yours is the voice that tells me:
“I love you, as you are, no matter what.”
Yours is the voice that tells me:
“You have all you need to set this world on fire.”
Yours is the voice that tells me:
“I’ve got you.”

Yet even knowing Your voice as I do,
I still get tricked
by the voice inside that asks me:
“Does he really love every part of you?”
by the voice inside that asks me:
“Are you really enough to make a difference?”
by the voice inside that asks me:
“Are you really sure he has you?”

I need your help, Lord,
to sift out Your voice from the rest,
to trust what I know to be true,
to silence what I know is not,
and to take a leap of faith. —Gretchen Crowder

Today’s Reflection: Jesus, sometimes I am bold in my trust in you, other times I am overwhelmed by outside fears. Reveal to me my own attachment to my fears and help me to boldly journey out to you on the waters. Keep calling me Lord, and save me when I fall. Make me bold, trusting in you alone. —Nathan Krawetzke, SJ
