Today’s Reflection: Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Help us to recognize the evil latent in a communication that does not build communion.
Help us to remove the venom from our judgements.
Help us to speak about others as our brothers and sisters.
You are faithful and trustworthy; may our words be seeds of goodness for the world:
where there is shouting, let us practice listening;
where there is confusion, let us inspire harmony;
where there is ambiguity, let us bring clarity;
where there is exclusion, let us offer solidarity;
where there is sensationalism, let us use sobriety;
where there is superficiality, let us raise real questions;
where there is prejudice, let us awaken trust;
where there is hostility, let us bring respect;
where there is falsehood, let us bring truth.
Amen. ~ Pope Francis

Morning Offering: MORNING PRAYER –
Remembering God’s loving kindness and our desire to meet with him, we pray together:
Lord, like a mountain stream exuberant in its flow
you carry us into the river of your grace
and transport us effortlessly
to the ocean of your love. – Bodmin Hermit post

Today’s Reflection: There are too many instances these days of people standing by while torture is being inflicted, while murder is being done. We stand by, witnessing it on television. – Dorothy Day (1897-1980), co-founder, Catholic Worker Movement

Today’s Reflection:
What Jesus never said:
“Feed the hungry only if they have papers.”
“Clothe the naked only if they’re from your country.”
“Welcome the stranger only if there’s zero risk.”
“Help the poor only if it’s convenient.”
“Love your neighbour only if they look like you.” – James Martin, SJ

Today’s Reflection: The planet doesn’t need more “successful” people. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kind. And more kindness. – Author unknown

Today’s Reflection: A Wish For The New Year
Dear Lord, please give me…
A few friends who understand me and remain my friends;
A work to do which has real value, without which the world would be the poorer;
A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not blazed;
An understanding heart;
A sense of humor;
Time for quiet, silent meditation;
A feeling of the presence of God;
The patience to wait for the coming of these things,
With the wisdom to recognize them when they come. — Author Unknown Source: Xavier University Prayers for the New Year
