Morning Offering: 12. 08. 25

Today’s Reflection: Lord,
In the deepest recesses of my heart,
I know Your voice.
Yours is the voice that tells me:
“I love you, as you are, no matter what.”
Yours is the voice that tells me:
“You have all you need to set this world on fire.”
Yours is the voice that tells me:
“I’ve got you.”

Yet even knowing Your voice as I do,
I still get tricked
by the voice inside that asks me:
“Does he really love every part of you?”
by the voice inside that asks me:
“Are you really enough to make a difference?”
by the voice inside that asks me:
“Are you really sure he has you?”

I need your help, Lord,
to sift out Your voice from the rest,
to trust what I know to be true,
to silence what I know is not,
and to take a leap of faith. —Gretchen Crowder

Today’s Reflection: Come away from the din, to the quiet fields over which the great sky stretches between us and the stars.  There lies but silence, and there in the stillness let us listen to the voice that is speaking within us. — Jerome K. Jerome

Today’s Reflection: Prayer for Peace and Calm

Dear Lord and Father of humankind,
Forgive our foolish ways;
Reclothe us in our rightful mind,
In purer lives Thy service find,
In deeper reverence, praise.

Drop Thy still dews of quietness,
Till all our strivings cease;
Take from our souls the strain and stress,
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of Thy peace.

Breathe through the heats of our desire
Thy coolness and Thy balm;
Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire;
Speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire,
O still, small voice of calm. — John Greenleaf Whittie

Today’s Reflection: Pure prayer begins at the threshold of silence. It says nothing, asks for nothing. It’s a kind of listening. The deeper the listening, the less we listen for, until silence itself becomes the voice of God. —  Stephen Mitchell

Today’s Reflection: Loving God,
I hold myself still and quiet, waiting for you, listening to you. May this time of silence bring me closer to you; may I hear your consoling voice; may I feel your loving embrace. And when I leave this prayer, may I share your words and your compassion with those I meet today. May I bring your peace to this world that you love so much. —Fr. Paul Kalenzi, SJ

Today’s Reflection: God of silence and God of all sound, help me to listen.
Help me to do the deep listening to the sounds of my soul,
waiting to hear your soft voice calling me deeper into you.
Give me attentive ears that begin to separate the noise from the sounds that are you;
you who have been speaking to me and through me my whole life,
for so long that you can seem like background noise.
Today help me hear you anew. — Author Unknown.

Today’s Reflection: Uncrowd my heart, O God, until silence speaks in your still small voice; turn me from the hearing of words, and the making of words, and the confusion of much speaking, to listening, waiting, stillness, silence. – Esther de Waal.
