Loving Father, in times of conflict, uncertainty and suffering, draw us close to you. Strengthen those living through crisis and all who hunger for peace, stability and daily bread. Pour out your grace on those who serve, that they may be instruments of your compassion. Amen. – CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) prayer site

God, Help me to trust that today, you will reveal your care, compassion, and concern for me in some spectacular way: through the people around me, a “little victory,” a surprising sense of peace. And maybe more importantly, help me to pay attention throughout the day so as to notice you in that very moment – to realize that you long to be with me through thick and thin. Amen. —Joe Ertle, SJ

Today’s Reflection: Heavenly Father, you challenge me to love my enemies. I cannot love like this without your help. Unite me to your heart. Forgive me for labeling others an “enemy” simply out of disagreement or injured feelings. Expand my capacity for love and forgiveness. Grant me your compassion. Amen — Jesuit Prayer team

Today’s Reflection: Lord Jesus, You teach us in your parable (Luke 10: 25-37) that there are two kinds of people– –those who bend down to help and those who look the other way. Which kind of people will we be? We say, “Yes, Lord, I will love you and love my neighbor.” But then we ask: The migrant… is she my neighbor? Those in poverty…are they my neighbors? Victims of war across the world… are they neighbors? One who faces racism… is he my neighbor? Those disabled or elderly… are they my neighbors? You remind us: Yes. All of us neighbors. Show us how to love, Lord. May we open our eyes. May we emerge from our comfortable isolation. May we build a world of compassion and dignity. Lord Jesus, who was neighbor to all, Help us to persevere in love. Help us to restore dignity to the suffering. Help us to build a society based not on exclusion, but on community. Amen. —USCCB Prayer inspired by Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis
