As the days grow shorter and the nights become colder, we look for signs of hope during this Advent Season. There is hope in the evergreens that brave the snow. There is hope in children’s hearts as they look forward to Christmas. There is hope as more candles are lit on the Advent Wreath. But the greatest hope is the promise: “You are to conceive and bear a son and you are to name him Jesus. He will be great and be called Son of the Most High.” – Advent Reflection

I pray that our eyes may be open To be one another’s keeper To look out for the children of the world Offer a kind word, a book, an encouragement I pray that we may teach our kids to hope To be kind, to love, to stand against injustice And may we take time to accept what children offer us The magic of hope and love Amen. — Adapted from a poem written by Donna Akuamoah, United Methodist Women International Ministries

Today’s Reflection: God, I come before you today in need of hope. There are times when I feel helpless, There are times when I feel weak. I pray for hope. I need hope for a better future. I need hope for a better life. I need hope for love and kindness.
Help me to walk in your light and live my life in faith and glory. In your name, I pray, Amen. — A Prayer for Hope, author unknown

Today’s Reflection: Jesus, as this new day begins, help us carry the joy of Easter into all we do. Let the hope of Your resurrection guide our steps, fill our hearts with peace and inspire us to share Your light with others. May we walk in faith, love boldly, and live with grateful hearts. — Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration

Today’s Reflection: Disturb us, Lord, when We are too well pleased with ourselves, When our dreams have come true Because we have dreamed too little, When we arrived safely Because we sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us, Lord, when With the abundance of things we possess We have lost our thirst For the waters of life; Having fallen in love with life, We have ceased to dream of eternity And in our efforts to build a new earth, We have allowed our vision Of the new Heaven to dim.
Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, To venture on wider seas Where storms will show your mastery; Where losing sight of land, We shall find the stars.
We ask You to push back The horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future In strength, courage, hope, and love. —Attributed to Sir Francis Drake, c. 1577
