Morning Offering: 04. 28. 23

Today’s Reflection: MORNING PRAYER Lord, as I contemplate a new day, help me to be aware of your spirit, lead me in the decisions I take, the conversations I have, and the work I do. Guide me to be more like you as I relate to the people I’ll meet today, friends or strangers. — Bodmin Hermit, a Franciscan hermit living in Cornwall, England.

Today’s Reflection: ADVICE FROM A GARDEN
Cultivate lasting friendships;
Sow seeds of kindness;
Listen to sage advice;
Don’t let little things bug you;
Be outstanding in your field;
Take thyme for yourself — Author unknown

Today’s Reflection: PRAYER OF A PRODIGAL
Lord,
Give me the strength to take the next step, to follow the way that leads to you
In my daily circumstances.
Even when things don’t go the way I want,
Even when I don’t know how to talk to you,
Even when I don’t feel you,
Even when I am convinced you are not there,
And especially when I am about to give up.
With your strength, I know I can
Find my way to you.
And loving you,
I can hope and trust that you will always heal
What is so broken in me. Amen. — Fr. Goyo Hidlago

Today’s Reflection: Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone. —Thomas Merton, Thoughts in Solitude

Today’s Reflection: Lord,
Send us running to the tombs you have left empty.
Reveal your resurrection to us in your surprising ways.

Today’s Reflection: NEW SERENITY PRAYER
0 God, grant me the serenity
to accept the people I cannot change,
which is pretty much everyone,
since I’m clearly not you, God.
At least not the last time I checked.
And while you’re at it, God,
please give me the courage
to change what I need to change about myself,
which is frankly a lot, since, once again,
I’m not you, which means I’m not perfect.

It’s better for me to focus on changing myself
than to worry about changing other people,
who, as you’ll no doubt remember me saying,
I can’t change anyway.

Finally, give me the wisdom to just shut up
whenever I think that I’m clearly smarter
than everyone else in the room,
that no one knows what they’re talking about except me,
or that I alone have all the answers.

Basically, God,
grant me the wisdom
to remember that I’m
not you. Amen. — Fr. James Martin SJ

Today’s Reflection: TEACH ME THY PATHS
Show, O Lord, Thy ways to me,
And teach me Thy paths.
