Love is a one-way street. It always moves away from self in the direction of the other. Love is the ultimate gift of ourselves to others. When we stop giving, we stop loving, when we stop loving we stop growing, and unless we grow, we will never attain personal fulfillment; we will never open out to receive the life of God. It is through love we encounter God. —St. Teresa of Calcutta

May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us. ― St. Teresa of Avila

God, Help me to trust that today, you will reveal your care, compassion, and concern for me in some spectacular way: through the people around me, a “little victory,” a surprising sense of peace. And maybe more importantly, help me to pay attention throughout the day so as to notice you in that very moment – to realize that you long to be with me through thick and thin. Amen. —Joe Ertle, SJ

We cannot merely pray to you, O God, to end war; For we know that You have made the world in a way That man must find his own path to peace. Within himself and with his neighbor.
We cannot merely pray to You, O God, to end starvation; For You have already given us the resources With which to feed the entire world, If we would only use them wisely.
We cannot merely pray to You, O God, to root out prejudice; For You have already given us eyes With which to see the good in all men, If we would only use them rightly.
We cannot merely pray to You, O God, to end despair, For You have already given us the power To clear away slums and to give hope, If we would only use our power justly.
We cannot merely pray to You, O God, to end disease; For You have already given us great minds With which to search out cures and healing, If we would only use them constructively. Therefore we pray to You instead, O God, For strength, determination and will power, To do instead of just pray, To become instead of merely to wish. — Rabbi Jack Reimer

Today’s Reflection: Sometimes words fail me. They seem so clumsy, so inadequate, too weak to get beyond my living room let alone make it through heaven’s doors. — Author unknown
