Today’s Reflection: People say, what is the sense of our small effort? They cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time. A pebble cast into a pond causes ripples that spread in all directions. Each one of our thoughts, words and deeds is like that. No one has a right to sit down and feel hopeless. Today’s Reflection: PRAYER OF A PRODIGAL Lord, Give me the strength to take the next step, to follow the way that leads to you In my daily circumstances. Even when things don’t go the way I want, Even when I don’t know how to talk to you, Even when I don’t feel you, Even when I am convinced you are not there, And especially when I am about to give up. With your strength, I know I can Find my way to you. And loving you, I can hope and trust that you will always heal What is so broken in me. Amen. — Fr. Today’s Reflection: Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone. —Thomas Merton, Thoughts in Solitude Morning Offering is a daily post by Joe Barkovich who lives in his hometown of Welland, Ontario.
