Today’s Reflection: To The Great Spirit

Grandfather Great Spirit,
all over the world the faces of living ones are alike.

With tenderness they have come up out of the ground.
Look upon your children that they may face the winds and walk the good road to the Day of Quiet.

Grandfather Great Spirit,
fill us with the Light.

Give us the strength to understand,
and the eyes to see.

Teach us to walk the soft earth as relatives to all that live. – Lakota prayer

Today’s Reflection: Prayer

In these damp, dark, dreary days,
a star so brilliant beacons
beckons believers forth
from fallow fields and faraway fiefdoms
to a manger most mundane…
we who have walked in darkness,
        have seen a great light.

Morning Offering: 12. 14. 25 Third Advent

Today’s Reflection: The Light of Candles

Come Lord of us all,
stir up the darkness.
We light just one candle
to keep us awake.

Come Lord of nature,
wise and just ruler.
The light of two candles
shows us how to live.

Come Lord of our life.
Deserts are greening.
The light of three candles
show that you are near.

Come Son of David,
he who was promised.
By four candles’ brightness
the true king will come.  —Sue Allerton/CAFOD

Morning Offering: 12. 07. 25 Second Advent

Today’s Reflection:

Lord Jesus,

Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas.

We who have so much to do and seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day,

We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.

We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.

We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.

We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.

To you we say, “Come Lord Jesus!’

Amen. — Henri J.M. Nouwen

Today’s Reflection: Lord, grant me the humility to allow your light to shine through the cracks in my life.

Shine through the broken places in our families, in our communities, and in our world,

so that all may be healed.

In the name of Jesus, the true light of the world. Amen. —Jackie Schulte

Today’s Reflection: Here’s to the bridge-builders, the hand-holders, the light-bringers, those extraordinary souls wrapped in ordinary lives who quietly weave threads of humanity into an inhumane world. They are the unsung heroes in a world at war with itself. They are the whisperers of hope that peace is possible. Look for them in this present darkness. Light your candle with their flame. And then go. Build bridges. Hold hands. Bring light to a dark and desperate world. Be the hero you are looking for. Peace is possible. It begins with us. ― L.R. Knost

Morning Offering: 07. 12. 23

Today’s Reflection: Dear God,
On this day I ask You to grant this request.
May I know who I am and what I am,
Every moment of every day.
May I be a catalyst for light and love,
And bring inspiration to those whose eyes I meet.
May I have the strength to stand tall in the face of conflict,
And the courage to speak my voice, even when I’m scared.
May I have the humility to follow my heart,
And the passion to live my soul’s desires.
May I seek to know the highest truth
And dismiss the gravitational pull of my lower self.
May I embrace and love the totality of myself?
My darkness as well as my light.
May I be brave enough to hear my heart?
To let it soften so that I may gracefully
Choose faith over fear.
Today is my day to surrender anything that stands
Between the sacredness of my humanity and my divinity.
May I be drenched in my Holiness
And engulfed by Your love.
May all else melt away.
And so it is. — Debbie Ford
