Today’s Reflection: once
i saw my grandmother hold out
her hand cupping a small offering
of seed to one of the wild sparrows
that frequented the bird bath she
filled with fresh water every day

she stood still
maybe stopped breathing
while the sparrow looked
at her, then the seed
then back as if he was
judging her character

he jumped into her hand
began to eat
she smiled

a woman holding
a small god

Today’s Reflection: PRAYER –
I see his blood upon the rose
And in the stars the glory of his eyes,
His body gleams amid eternal snows,
His tears fall from the skies.

I see his face in every flower;
The thunder and the singing of the birds
Are but his voice—and carven by his power
Rocks are his written words.

All pathways by his feet are worn,
His strong heart stirs the ever-beating sea,
His crown of thorns is twined with every thorn,
His cross is every tree. —Joseph Mary Plunkett

Today’s Reflection: Lord, bring your saints into my garden to remind me each day through their examples. Let St. Francis inspire me to love the birds and all living things. Let St. Phocas the gardener be my guide in enriching the soil. Through St. Therese, the Little Flower, may I make every act, no matter how small, one that honors you. Amen. — from God In The Garden

Today’s Reflection: If you have men who will exclude any of God’s creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men. – attributed to St. Francis of Assisi; Feeding the birds is also a form of prayer. – Pope Pius XII.

Today’s Reflection: Let me seek, then, the gift of silence, and solitude,
where everything I touch is turned into prayer:
where the sky is my prayer,
the birds are my prayer,
the wind in the trees is my prayer,
for God is all in all. — Thomas Merton.
