Today’s Reflection: Christ,
Coming closer to you
is saying yes to a stretch

Of who I think I can love
with this clumsy heart

Of who I think I can understand
with this limited mind

Of who I think I could befriend
with this small imagination

You stretch me inside
to push me outside
on mission –
To love and listen
To grow my world with your love.

Okay, but gently please, Amen. — Fr. Garrett Gundlach, SJ.

Today’s Reflection: Golden Leaves
We see signs of summer’s passing in golden leaves,
shortening days, misty mornings, autumn glow.
We sense its passing in rain that dampens,
winds that chill, harvest’s bounty placed on show.
Creator God, who brings forth
both green shoot and hoar frost,
sunrise and sunset,
we bring our thanks
for seeds that have grown,
harvests gathered,
storehouses filled,
mouths fed.
And, as your good earth rests
through winter’s cold embrace,
we look forward to its re-awakening
when kissed by spring’s first touch. — Author Unknown.

Today’s Reflection: Let me seek, then, the gift of silence, and solitude,
where everything I touch is turned into prayer:
where the sky is my prayer,
the birds are my prayer,
the wind in the trees is my prayer,
for God is all in all. — Thomas Merton.

Today’s Reflection: Lord, grant me the humility to allow your light to shine through the cracks in my life.
Shine through the broken places in our families, in our communities, and in our world, so that all may be healed.
In the name of Jesus, the true light of the world. Amen. —Jackie Schulte.

Today’s Reflection: Autumn Months
O God of Creation, you have blessed us with the changing of the seasons.
As we welcome the autumn months,
may the earlier setting of the sun
remind us to take time to rest.
May the brilliant colors of the leaves
remind us of the wonder of your creation.
May the steam of our breath in the cool air
remind us that it is you who give us the breath of life.
May the harvest from the fields remind us of the abundance we have been given and bounty we are to share with others.
May the dying of summer’s spirit remind us of your great promise that death is temporary and life is eternal.
We praise you for your goodness forever and ever. — Author Unknown.

Today’s Reflection: Entertainment and consumption have practically become the point of life in our modern culture. Without time for serious thought processes, we are losing the ability to think deeply. We don’t even have time to wonder, What is the meaning of it all? Do we possess our possessions, or do they possess us? Do we consume pleasures and entertainment, or do they consume us? — Jeanette Flood, from her book Eight Ways of Loving God.
