Today’s Reflection: Carry out God’s commandments in what you do every day. Embrace chastity. Hate no one. Do not be jealous or give in to feelings of envy. Do not take pleasure in disputes. Avoid pride, respect your elders and care for those younger than yourself. Pray for your enemies in the love of Christ. Before the day’s end be reconciled with anyone with whom you have a disagreement. Never despair of God’s mercy. — St. Benedict of Nursia from The Rule of St. Benedict.

Morning Offering: 12. 20. 22

Today’s Reflection: Gracious God,
Thank you for the gift of today.
Refresh me. Invite me to discover your presence
In each person that I meet
And every event that I encounter.
Teach me when to speak and when to listen
When to ponder and when to share.
In moments of challenge and decision
Attune my heart to the whisperings of your Wisdom.
As I undertake ordinary and unnoticed tasks,
Gift me with simple joy.
When my day goes well, may I rejoice.
When it grows difficult, surprise me with
New possibilities.
When life is overwhelming, call me to
Sabbath moments
To restore your Peace and Harmony.
May my living today reveal your Goodness. — Pat Bergen, C.S.J. (Congregation of St. Joseph).

Today’s Reflection: Prayer for Humility
Let me have too deep a sense of humor ever to be proud.
Let me know my absurdity before I act absurdly.
Let me realize that when I am humble I am most human,
most truthful, and most worthy of your serious consideration. — Daniel Lord, SJ.

Today’s Reflection: Second Sunday of Advent — Advent is primarily about the coming of God, and only in a secondary way about asking, seeking, waiting and longing. There is hope, because we are unconditionally loved, whatever may be our failures, our tepidity, or our secret despair. The word “Come” is a bearer of mystery.— Maria Boulding, The Coming of God.

Today’s Reflection: Lord, when we are anxious and confused, provide comfort and reassurance.
When we are idle and lazy, provide inspiration and energizing encouragement.
While we wait, ready our bodies, hearts, and minds to receive you.
As we tend to our Christian duties, do not delay.
Come, Lord, Jesus! Amen.
Come, Lord, Jesus! Amen. —Christopher Alt, SJ.
