Today’s Reflection:  God,
complaining is completely underrated. How else can I be honest?

Every frustration has me spinning. And the sheer volume
and timing of each new problem
has me convinced this is a conspiracy. Are they trying to ruin this for me?

I’m trying.
I’m honestly trying here.

God, come meet me here.
Chip away at my chippiness.
Calm my racing heart.
Loosen this feeling in my chest.

Blessed are we when we notice
that the day is trending in the wrong direction.
No matter how hard we try,
the answers are not coming, and even the questions
have all trailed away.

Blessed are we when we recognize that it’s time to just stop,
find a moment alone,
And breathe.

Blessed are we,
who notice something emerging, a memory of truth revealed,
of mercy received,
a comfort, a word.

And how grateful are we
who take the first step,
and find it has its own springs. —“A Blessing for When You’re Feeling Grouchy” by Kate Bowler from The Lives We Actually Have

Today’s Reflection: Prayer

I pray just for today, for these twenty-four hours,
for the ability to cooperate with others according to the way Jesus taught us to live.
“Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
May these words that he taught us become more than words.

Please free my thinking and feelings and the thinking and feelings of others,
from all forms of self-will, self-centeredness, dishonesty, and deception.
Along with my brothers and sisters,
I need this freedom to make my choices today according to your desires.
Send your Spirit to inspire me in time of doubt and indecision so that, together, we can walk along your path. Amen. — John Veltri, SJ

Today’s Reflection:  Prayer

Today, Lord, I choose to believe in you
    – not to try to go it alone –
but to believe in your loving care for me…

Today, Lord, I choose to trust in you
    – not to stress out in fear and panic –
but to trust that you’re always right by my side…

Today, Lord, I choose to live by your Word
    – not by my whims and fancies –
but by the wisdom and truth of your Word…

Today, Lord, I choose to walk your path
    – following your map and not my own –

’til I find you within me as well as beside me… —Fr. Austin Fleming, excerpt from “Today I Choose”

Today’s Reflection:  SILENT PRAYER: The silent practice of contemplative prayer guides us toward resting in the fullness of God and God’s love. It’s a peaceful practice that pulls us away from striving, fear, and defending boundaries. Prayer with words… but not many! — Bodmin Hermit

Today’s Reflection: FOR THOSE WHOSE HARVEST IS POOR

Creator God, for daily bread
and all who work
to bring your harvest home
we bring our thanks today.

Forgive our ingratitude
we who have so much
yet waste what you have given.

For those whose harvest is poor,
whose crops have withered,
water tainted, children starve,
help those who bring relief
and bestow on us
an unaccustomed generosity,
that all might share from your garden
and all might sing your praise.

Creator God, provider of all
we bring our thanks today.  — Author Unknown
