Today’s Reflection: Near gleaming glass condo towers
and godless cathedrals of commerce
is found a sleeping bag sleeping space
sheltering under tree limbs subbing as a rooftop.
Affordable housing in the big city, some might say,
but this sleeping bag sleeping space’s transparency
affords a view into unconscionable homelessness,
while untouched unabated disparity widens the chasm
between haves and have-nots. Where is the social justice?
Forgive us, Lord, for this we pray.

Today’s Reflection: My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. — Excerpt from a prayer by Thomas Merton.

Today’s Reflection: Every day, think as you wake up, “Today I am fortunate to be alive!
I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it.
I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart for others;
to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings.
I am going to have kind thoughts towards others,
I am not going to get angry or think badly about others.
I am going to benefit others as much as I can.” — Prayer of the Dalai Lama.
